About Oropi Bushlands Ltd
Oropi is a small rural area south of Tauranga. The properties of Oropi Bushlands range from 1000 ft to 1100 ft above sea level. The contour is varied with the majority rolling to steep hills but also including some valley river flats.
167 Burd Road was bought by Grahm and Joan Kehely in 1964. At which time Grahm cleared the then standing 400 acres of bush to pasture. A further 150 acres of Crown owned forest was purchased ten years later but Grahm and Joan made a decision not to fell the majority of this, leaving 150 acres of native bush as a legacy to future generations.
Their youngest son Shaun, always a keen worker and outdoors man, started leasing the farm eighteen years ago. Then in 1996 he and Fiona bought a herd of dairy cows and became share milkers.
Everyone will love it, it's absolutely heavenly...

Over the past six years Shaun and Fiona, Grahm and Joan have between them purchased a further 1600 acres that adjoin the original dairy farm. This includes 50acres of amazing Kahikateas purchased by Grahm and Joan and a further 100 acres of native bush purchased by both couples.
2007 saw some big changes in the structure of all the properties management and the company 'Oropi Bushlands' (of which the two couples have equal shareholdings) is now leasing all family landholdings in the upper Oropi area with Shaun retained as manager.
Oropi Bushlands is a true family venture with all Grahm and Joan's offspring actively involved within the structure and all their grandchildren spending extended time on the land.
